What Makes A Great Holiday Photo Card

Great holiday photo cards feature design details that bring your favorite family photo (or handful of photos) to life. The best holiday photo cards are also customizable, allowing you to choose colorways that coordinate with your photo, edit the holiday greeting included, select a layout for the backside of the card where you can share additional photos or a longer holiday message, and come in a range of paper types that you can choose from.

Minted’s collection of holiday photo cards checks each of these boxes. Designed by independent artists from around the world, our holiday cards are more than just templates — they’re individual works of art, worthy of becoming keepsakes long after the holiday is over. Our holiday photo cards are available in a wide variety of formats, including Classic 5x7 cards, Photo Mount™ cards that frame high-quality prints of your family photo, and upgraded printing options like foil-pressed or letter-pressed.

Foil-Pressed Holiday Photo Cards: A Luxe Detail

A bit of high-shine foil is a festive way to make your holiday cards feel extra special. Unlike printing metallic ink, foil-pressed printing is a process where real foil is pressed onto each card using a heated die cut to match your design. The result is luxurious, high-shine, and undeniably eye-catching.

Foil pressing is most commonly done using gold and silver foil, but Minted also offers a range of playful foil colors, including ice blue, bronze, red, green, rose gold, and glittery gold that you can choose when customizing your holiday card. Minted offers a large selection of holiday cards designed by independent artists with foil-pressed details, and you can add custom foil-pressed text to any holiday photo card design in our collection.

Christmas Photo Cards vs Holiday Photo Cards

Holiday photo cards are designs that use inclusive, non-denominational wording and imagery. The ‘holiday card’ category is often where you’ll find card designs celebrating a diverse range of holidays while shopping. Christmas cards, meanwhile, feature messages and design details that are specifically tied to the Christian holiday. If you’re looking to shop for religious or traditional Christmas photo cards, check out our collection here.

When to Order and How to Send Your Holiday Photo Cards

Minted’s holiday cards are made to order, with production and shipping times varying by level of customization required. You’ll see an estimated delivery date during checkout and in your account—and rush and expedited shipping options are available. To ensure your cards arrive on time, we recommend placing your order by mid-November. You can learn more about our Holiday Delivery Deadlines here.

Once your Minted holiday card order arrives, you’ll need to assemble each card. If you’ve opted for one of our beautiful Photo Mount™ designs, you’ll need to give yourself time to insert photos into each card before you stuff them into envelopes. Once your envelopes are assembled, you’ll need to write or stamp your return address (if you did not opt to have it printed on your envelopes) and add the correct amount of postage before dropping them in the mail. Ideally, you’ll send your holiday cards 2 weeks before the date of the celebration.
